Tasker Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 2026 · BusinessBrain Ltd

These Tasker Terms & Conditions (“Tasker Terms”) apply in addition to OddJobs' general Terms & Conditions. If there is any conflict between these Tasker Terms and the general Terms, these Tasker Terms prevail in relation to Tasker-specific matters. By registering as a Tasker on OddJobs, you agree to both sets of terms.

1. Independent Contractor Status

Taskers who use OddJobs are independent operators, not employees, agents, or contractors of OddJobs or BusinessBrain Ltd. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship between you and OddJobs.

You are free to set your own hours, determine how you complete tasks, and work on other platforms simultaneously. OddJobs does not direct or control the manner in which you perform services.

2. Eligibility

To register as a Tasker on OddJobs, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • Hold any licences or certifications required for the services you intend to offer.
  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration and throughout your use of the platform.
  • Maintain a valid Stripe account connected to a New Zealand bank account.

3. Payments and Stripe Payouts

All payments on OddJobs are processed through Stripe Connect, a third-party payment processing platform operated by Stripe, Inc.

By accepting payments through OddJobs, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and the Stripe Connect Account Agreement.

Important — Payout Timing

OddJobs does not control Stripe's payout schedule, processing times, or bank transfer times. Payment timing may vary depending on your Stripe account status, identity verification requirements, and Stripe's policies. OddJobs accepts no liability for delays caused by Stripe or your bank.

Funds are released to your Stripe account once a customer confirms a task as complete. Stripe then remits payment to your nominated bank account on its standard payout schedule. For most New Zealand accounts this involves a rolling delay (currently around 4 days for new accounts), plus any additional bank processing time of 1–2 business days.

Platform fees may be deducted from the payment amount prior to remittance to your Stripe account. The applicable fee will be disclosed before you accept a job.

OddJobs does not guarantee any specific payout date or amount and is not responsible for any loss arising from Stripe's processing times, account holds, or verification requirements.

4. Tax Obligations

As an independent operator, you are solely responsible for all tax obligations arising from income earned through OddJobs, including but not limited to:

  • New Zealand income tax payable to Inland Revenue (IRD).
  • GST obligations, if your turnover exceeds the GST registration threshold.
  • Any ACC levies applicable to your self-employed earnings.

OddJobs does not withhold tax on your behalf and does not provide tax advice. We recommend consulting a qualified accountant or tax adviser if you are uncertain about your obligations.

5. Licences and Insurance

You must hold all licences, certifications, and registrations required by New Zealand law for the services you perform. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Electrical work — a registered electrician licence.
  • Gas fitting — a licensed gasfitter certification.
  • Plumbing — a registered plumber certification.
  • Any other trade or professional service regulated by New Zealand law.

OddJobs strongly recommends that Taskers hold appropriate public liability insurance. You perform tasks at your own risk. OddJobs and BusinessBrain Ltd accept no liability for any injury, property damage, or loss arising from your work.

6. Quality and Conduct

As a Tasker, you agree to:

  • Perform all tasks to a reasonable standard of care and skill.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with customers.
  • Keep all communications within the OddJobs platform.
  • Not solicit customers to pay or communicate outside the platform.
  • Respect customers' property and privacy at all times.
  • Report any safety concerns or prohibited requests through the app.

7. Prohibited Activities

Taskers must not offer, agree to, or perform any of the following:

  • Tasks that are illegal under New Zealand law.
  • Licensed trade work without holding the required licence.
  • Any task involving drugs, weapons, or controlled substances.
  • Sexual services of any nature.
  • Any task that presents an unreasonable risk of harm to any person.
  • Fraud, misrepresentation, or deliberately deceptive behaviour.
  • Accepting or requesting payment outside the OddJobs platform.

8. Dispute Resolution

OddJobs may assist in resolving disputes between Taskers and customers, but is not an arbitration service. During an active dispute, payment may be held until the matter is resolved. OddJobs's decision in relation to platform disputes is final within the platform.

OddJobs is not liable for the outcome of any dispute, or for any loss you suffer as a result of a customer's actions, reviews, or failure to pay.

9. Account Suspension and Termination

OddJobs reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove your Tasker account at our discretion, without prior notice, where we have reasonable grounds to believe you have:

  • Breached these Tasker Terms or the general Terms & Conditions.
  • Engaged in fraudulent, abusive, or harmful conduct.
  • Performed prohibited services.
  • Repeatedly cancelled accepted jobs.
  • Posed a safety risk to other users.

Suspension does not release any outstanding payment obligations that OddJobs or Stripe may have to you at the time of suspension.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, OddJobs and BusinessBrain Ltd are not liable for:

  • Delays in payment processing by Stripe or your bank.
  • Loss of earnings arising from task cancellations or disputes.
  • Any injury, damage, or loss you sustain while performing a task.
  • Indirect, consequential, or special losses of any kind.

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights you hold under New Zealand law that cannot be excluded by contract.

11. Governing Law

These Tasker Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.

12. Changes to These Terms

OddJobs may update these Tasker Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use of OddJobs as a Tasker after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
