Tasker Help
Common questions about payments, Stripe payouts, tax, safety, and more.
Once a customer marks a task as complete and the payment is released, funds are sent to your Stripe account. Stripe then pays your nominated bank account according to its payout schedule.
For most New Zealand accounts, this is typically on a daily schedule with a rolling delay (currently around 4 days for new accounts). Bank processing times may add an additional 1–2 business days.
Your exact payout timing depends on your Stripe account status and any verification requirements Stripe may have in place.
When you set up your Tasker account you will connect a Stripe Express account and enter your New Zealand bank account details. Stripe sends payouts directly to that account on its rolling schedule. You can check your payout status at any time inside the Stripe Express dashboard.
Platform fees may apply to transactions completed through OddJobs. The fee structure will be clearly displayed before you accept a job. OddJobs does not take any additional amount beyond the stated platform fee.
If a customer does not confirm completion within the expected window after you have finished the work, the payment can be released automatically or you can raise a support request through the app. Contact us at sales@businessbrain.co.nz if you are waiting on payment that should have been released.
Stripe is one of the world's most trusted payment platforms and is used by millions of businesses globally. All customer card details and financial data are handled securely by Stripe — OddJobs never stores your full bank or card details directly.
No. OddJobs does not control Stripe's payout schedule, processing times, or bank transfer times. These are determined entirely by Stripe's policies and your bank. If you have concerns about a specific payout, check your Stripe Express dashboard or contact Stripe support directly.
Stripe applies a longer rolling delay for new accounts while it verifies your identity and bank details. This is typically around 4 business days but can be longer if Stripe requires additional verification. Once your account is established, payouts generally process faster.
Stripe is legally required to verify the identity of individuals receiving payouts. If Stripe requests documents (e.g. a photo ID or proof of address), you must complete this to receive your funds. OddJobs cannot bypass or speed up Stripe's verification process.
Yes. Taskers on OddJobs are independent operators, not employees of OddJobs or BusinessBrain Ltd. You are solely responsible for declaring your earnings to Inland Revenue (IRD) and paying any income tax or GST that applies to your situation. We recommend speaking with an accountant if you are unsure of your obligations.
No. Taskers are independent individuals who use the OddJobs marketplace to find work. OddJobs does not employ taskers, does not set your hours, and is not liable for your work. You are responsible for your own insurance, licensing, and tax obligations.
OddJobs does not require taskers to hold insurance, but we strongly recommend it — particularly for physical tasks involving property or equipment. Public liability insurance can protect you if something goes wrong on the job.
The following are prohibited on OddJobs regardless of what a customer posts:
If a customer asks you to do something that makes you uncomfortable, decline and report it through the app.
Your safety comes first — always. Leave the situation if you feel unsafe and contact emergency services if needed. You can then report the customer through the OddJobs app or by emailing sales@businessbrain.co.nz. OddJobs will review and take action on any report of threatening or dangerous behaviour.
Once you have a Tasker account, the app shows you tasks posted in your area. You can browse by category, distance, and budget. When you find something that suits you, send the customer an offer.
While you can cancel an accepted job through the app, doing so repeatedly will affect your reliability rating and may result in fewer customers choosing you. Only accept jobs you are confident you can complete.
Yes. Taskers set their own prices and send offers to customers at the rate they choose. Customers can accept, decline, or negotiate. You are never locked into a rate set by OddJobs.
Complete jobs on time, communicate clearly, and do quality work. After every task, customers can leave a review. Strong ratings lead to more offers accepted and repeat customers. Treat every job as an opportunity to build your profile.
Yes. OddJobs reserves the right to suspend or remove any Tasker account where there is evidence of fraud, abuse, repeated cancellations, prohibited activity, or conduct that harms other users. You will be notified if action is taken against your account unless doing so would compromise an ongoing investigation.
